The British Ministry of Defence Buys Airship

The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) has agreed to buy a Skyship 600 type airship from Westinghouse Airships, Inc. The airship is being supplied to Westinghouse through Airship Management Services, Inc. (AMS) of Greenwich, and their British affiliate, Interport Marine.

AMS has provided, and will continue to provide, personnel for training of MoD pilots, mechanics and crew chiefs in the United States and UK.

AMS/Interport, with their Japanese partner Nissho Iwai American Corporation, have already sold this type of airship to such customers as the Tokyo Police and Japan Airlines.

The MoD will use this Skyship 600 for a period of airship assessment as a precursor to possible future airship purchases.
